Real Kettlebell Training with the AKC Fire/Rescue Advisor, Mike Stefano

WHAT ARE KETTLEBELLS?
A typical set features a timer and one or two kettlebells (beginners always work with one). Sets are performed for time (at the advanced level, a single nonstop set can go as long as 6 to 10, or even 20 minutes), with reps simply recorded.

Resistance varies and includes kettlebells of 18 (8kg), to 70 pounds (32kg) and greater. Nine exercises, borrowed from the sport element of kettlebell lifting, are featured most often. Mastering these few moves, and learning how to progress and combine them, provides you with endless variety in your training.

Progress is quick and explosive, as your body continually adapts, getting both stronger and leaner. The secret is in the progression of high reps with impeccable form, and the more reps the better. A lot of good kettlebell reps can strengthen, heal and reshape YOUR body.

Mike Stefano teaching kettlebells Kettlebells are exploding on the scene here in the United States. All around the country people are picking up metal balls with handles and getting results. The American Kettlebell Club has trained over 350 coaches since January 2007. As one of the club's advisors, I was in that first class, and have been there all along the way. It's been an honor to coach side by side with the head coach Valery Fedorenko. To put Valery's abilities in perspective, he's been compared to the Michael Jordan of kettlebells. You can see in this video, he's clearly earned that right.

Over the past year and a half the AKC brand of kettlebell lifting is being embraced by thousands, but for only one simple reason. RESULTS! In my training of dozens of clients personally, I've witnessed unprecedented results. From Ashley Hughes making Master of Sport, to Joe doing 20-minute sets, to Anthony losing 70 lbs. If you do the work, results are always there.

Kettlebell training works at many, many levels. For the advanced athlete who needs extreme strength, endurance, explosive power, and everything else necessary to excel in today's athletic arena including mental fortitude, I offer a hard-core strength / conditioning approach to kettlebells. Once you learn to spearhead your training DIRECTLY at your goals, progress accelerates.

For the fitness enthusiast, or anybody that needs to drop a few pounds and just get healthier, or buff up, it doesn't get any better than kettlebell training. Our fitness system backs off on some of the traditional intensity necessary to build extreme strength / endurance, but keeps it high enough to sculpt, tone, fry the fat right off your body, while you build cardiovascular health and fitness.

Firefighters fall someplace between advanced athletes and pure fitness. Kettlebells come to the rescue here by splitting the difference, recreating the intensity of fire operations, without the extensive workouts associated with pure sport or any elaborate equipment requirement. A win-win-win situation.

A LITTLE HISTORY ON KETTLEBELLS
Kettlebell Lifting, as a sport and physical conditioning system, can be traced back over 100 years to Czarist Russia (>>HISTORY OF KB'S). Today, the same methodology that was perfected by thousands of kettlebell athletes and coaches over decades of training, has finally made it to America. Kettlebells, as a fitness system, is unsurpassed for exploding strength and endurance, frying body fat, carving out lean hard muscle, restoring joint mobility, and the list goes on!

Disgusted with the flood of mis-information on kettlebell lifting in the US, Valery formed the AKC, dedicated to the training of coaches that could go out and deliver this unparalleled training modality to all that dared to use it. My one-on-one training, as well as kettlebell workshops, are all AKC based, and in strict adherence with Fedorenko methodology.

"Mike Stefano is an experienced Trainer who has helped Firefighters, Law Enforcement and civilians get in shape with his well planned programs. We have no problems endorsing him fully."
